Tuscaloosa Refinery

Hunt Refining Company owns and operates a complex, full- conversion petroleum and asphalt refinery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In 2010, Hunt Refining Company completed a three-year expansion project of its Tuscaloosa refinery that increased its capacity of barrels per day. As a result of the expansion, the refinery doubled the amount of gasoline and distillates that it produces and improved its flexibility in running various crude streams.

Sandersville Refinery

Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunt Refining Company, operates an asphalt refinery in Sandersville, Mississippi.

The Sandersville, Mississippi refinery is located on 85 acres and processes crude oil from both local Mississippi oil fields as well as a variety of international crudes.  The refinery has the capacity to process 10,000 barrels per day.  The refinery consists of a simple distillation process with vacuum distillation for graded asphalt products.

Products from the Sandersville refinery are finished roofing grade asphalt, paving grade asphalt, heavy gas oil, distillate feedstock and heavy and light straight run naphtha.  The refinery has the capability to oxidize asphalt to create industrial roofing grade coatings, saturants, and steeps.  Synthetic polymer compounds can also be blended with the asphalt to produce a variety pf performance grade for state and federal highway projects.  Products from Sandersville are shipped by truck and rail car.

The Asphalt Technical Center (ATC) provides support to Hunt Refining Company’s mission of being highly successful in the asphalt market. Specificially, the ATC’s mission is to develop new asphalt products, optimize existing asphalt products, support asphalt marketing efforts and cutomer needs, and provide testing services for various internal and external customers.

Paving
Hunt produces and markets performance-graded and viscosity-graded asphalt binders for paving applications.

Emulsions
Hunt emulsions are well-suited to most paving applications – including chip seal, tack coats, join seal, and fog seal.

Industrials
Each formulation is expertly prepared for exacting client requirements of project weather, temperature, traffic, exposure, and special requests.

Hunt invests parts of its refining to creating a variety of fuels for different industries:

Alabama Bulk Terminal

The Alabama Bulk Terminal Company, LLC provides a means of receiving waterborne crude oil into the Hunt Refining Company system. It also provides the strategic ability to market products into the southern Alabama and Florida regions. The facility sits on 57 acres located on the east bank of the Mobile River, with easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. It currently has nine tanks ranging in size from 25,000 barrels to more than 370,000 barrels, with an overall facility capacity of 1.2 million barrels. The facility also has a marine dock that can accommodate inland barges, ocean barges and ships up to 800 feet in length, as well as a rack loading system for trucks.

Hunt Crude Oil Supply

Hunt Crude Oil Supply Company, based in Melvin, Alabama, is the hub of more than 200 miles of pipelines. It has a 335,000 barrel storage system that supplies the Tuscaloosa refinery with both foreign and domestic crude oils. Crude oil is trucked or pipelined to five field stations located in west Alabama and east Mississippi, then delivered via pipeline to Melvin Station. The station pumps a daily average of 40,000 barrels of crude oil blend to the Tuscaloosa refinery. Field stations and pipeline status are continuously monitored by personnel from the control room located in Melvin Station.

Vicksburg Terminal

The Vicksburg Terminal of Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC sits on 14 acres of land in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The facility is located near the Mississippi River on the Yazoo Diversion Canal. The terminal has 15 storage tanks that can hold up to 387,000 barrels of product, and it has the capability to load and unload barges. The terminal also has several truck loading and unloading stations to handle different products.

Lumberton Terminal

The Lumberton Terminal of Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC sits on 50 acres in Lumberton, Mississippi. The terminal produces and ships emulsified asphalt. It also serves as a terminal for paving grade asphalt. It has 39 tanks and a total storage capacity of more than 357,000 barrels. Approximately 30 to 35 trucks can be loaded per day.
